Crate Blue Voodoo 120 100W 4×12 Stack

The Crate Blue Voodoo series came out in the 1990s, when Crate (a long-running St. Louis Music brand) was building loud, gig-ready tube amps aimed at players who wanted modern gain without boutique pricing. The Blue Voodoo 120 stack is one of the best-known of that era: a high-gain, two-channel head paired with a matching 4×12 that was built to move serious air.

Sonically, this amp sits in the “hot-rodded Marshall” family. Think JCM800-style bite and aggression, pushed further with more available gain and a bigger low end. That recipe is a big part of why the Blue Voodoo became closely associated with the mid 90s American East Coast death metal sound. Bands like Cannibal Corpse used them to get that tight, scooped-mid rhythm tone, including on “Vile”. Outside metal, the Blue Voodoo also shows up in Sammy Hagar’s live and studio rigs, where the amp’s straightforward punch and cut work well in a loud band mix.

Practical features are simple and stage-friendly: separate EQ sections for rhythm and lead, onboard reverb with independent controls, a bright switch, and a rear effects loop for time-based pedals. The head includes line out, impedance selection, and main/extension speaker outputs, and the included 2-button footswitch gives you quick control underfoot. The matching 4×12 is wired for mono or stereo use, with left and right inputs on the jack plate.

This stack is in excellent condition, works as it should, and has the classic cool Blue Voodoo look to match the sound.
