Woodstock Guitars

OK, on paper this 1978 Gibson Hummingbird is all wrong – the late 70’s weren’t exactly Gibson’s glory days, and this guitar is stamped as a “Factory 2nd”, which was a common practice at the time for instruments with minor (and mostly impossible to spot) issues.

Only “problem” is that the guitar looks fantastic, plays great and sounds awesome, proving once again that when it comes to vintage, it’s all about the individual guitar.

The guitar is in excellent structural condition, with no breaks or cracks. Normal wear consistent with its age, which adds character and authenticity to its vintage charm. The guitar’s tone has mellowed beautifully over the years, resulting in a fantastic sound that resonates with warmth and depth.

Crafted with a solid Sitka spruce top and mahogany back and sides, the Hummingbird offers a well-balanced and resonant tonal palette. The combination of these tonewoods provides a warm and rich sound with a sweet and articulate mid-range.

Featuring a square-shoulder dreadnought body shape, a mahogany neck and a rosewood fingerboard, the Hummingbird delivers a bold and powerful sound that projects with clarity and depth. The top is adorned with Gibson’s iconic pickguard design featuring a hummingbird and floral motif, adding to its visual appeal.
