The Gibson SG High Performance Electric Guitar offers premium appointments alongside highly versatile electronics and peerless playability. From amateur to professional, for those who need a model that can segue effortlessly between studio extraordinaire and touring workhorse, it is a must-have model.
CLASSIC DOUBLE-CUTAWAY PROFILE
The SG High Performance model adheres to the classic double-cutaway “horns” design that has been the standard since its introduction back in the 1960s. The shapely body is crafted using mahogany, which establishes an emphasised midrange energy with its characteristically pronounced “bite”. Paired with the mahogany is a lavish AA figured maple top, which is protected by a resilient gloss nitrocellulose lacquer to preserve the woods impeccably. The bevelled edges couple up with the slim body depth and contoured curves to maximise playability, making the SG a highly desirable model for guitarists who crave a lightweight and easily explorable guitar.
LIGHTNING FAST NECK DESIGN
Connected to the body via an elegant joint with slender heel is a stable and supportive mahogany neck. Carved to a slim taper profile, the neck is a delight to perform on thanks to the generous 24.75-inch scale length. Paired with the neck is a richlite fingerboard, which is home to 24 cryogenically treated low frets that encourage the smoothest of transitions as you traverse the strings. The adjustable titanium nut secures each string for a consistent response during enthusiastic performances, whilst the 12-inch fingerboard radius supports you whether you’re shredding through riffs or honing your slide technique.
HIGHLY VERSATILE ELECTRONICS
The Gibson SG High Performance is equipped with a pair of Burstbucker Pro pickups, with a Rhythm in the neck position and a Lead Plus in the bridge. Designed to tease the most out of the tonewood arrangement, the Burstbucker Pros are capable of delivering an emphatic energy with little encouragement needed. To extend the already impressive breadth of tones available, Gibson have included their HP-2 High Performance Circuitry, which features a pair of push/pull volume controls, a pair of push/pull tone controls, a 3-way aviation grade toggle switch and an internal 5-position DIP switch. The result is a breath-taking plethora of tonal opportunities that await to be explored.
The SG HP body is home to an aluminium Nashville tune-o-matic bridge with titanium saddles, which is paired with an aluminium stopbar to anchor each string meticulously throughout the most demanding of performances. Subtle adjustments can be made when necessary to set string action so that your setup is always just as wish it to be. The headstock is home to Grover locking Rotomatic tuning machines with keystone buttons to uphold tuning integrity flawlessly, no matter how hard you rock out.
