The Ibanez S540 is a high-performance shredder’s dream, known for its ultra-thin, lightweight mahogany body and fast-playing Wizard neck. Part of the S Series, the S540 was introduced in the late 1980s as a step up from the standard S models, featuring HSH pickup configurations and high-quality hardware. By 1998, the S540 had evolved into a refined and versatile instrument, built for speed, precision, and tonal flexibility.
This 1998 Ibanez S540 in Dark Adriatic Blue has seen extensive play and wear but remains a highly functional and well-preserved instrument. The finish shows noticeable playwear, with finish wear on the upper bout (visible in photos) and minor marks on the back of the neck in the cowboy chord area. Additionally, there are screw holes behind the bridge pickup, suggesting that a synth pickup may have been installed at some point. The tremolo cavity cover has chipped corners, a common issue.
Despite the cosmetic wear, the guitar’s jumbo frets are in excellent condition, with little to no wear. Weight is 3600g. Does not include case or bag.
