Woodstock Guitars

The Martin D-28 is one of the most legendary acoustic guitars ever made, and this 1979 example embodies everything that has made it a favorite among musicians for decades. First introduced in 1931, the D-28 quickly became the standard for dreadnought guitars, prized for its powerful projection, rich bass response, and balanced tone. By the 1970s, the D-28 had evolved to feature Indian rosewood back and sides, replacing the Brazilian rosewood used in earlier models, while maintaining the classic Sitka spruce top and scalloped bracing that give it its signature sound.

This 1979 D-28 is a real cannon—full-bodied and responsive, with incredible volume and resonance. It has seen its fair share of play, with plenty of honest wear, small dings on the top, and an overall lovely patina that gives it character. The guitar has been refretted, and the frets are in excellent condition. Small indentations in the cowboy chord are of teh fretboard have been carefully filled in. It comes with its original period ABS plastic case, which is in fair condition with one latch missing. Weight is 2200g.

The D-28 has been played by countless legendary musicians, including Neil Young, Jimmy Page, and Hank Williams Jr., all of whom relied on its rich tone and booming projection for both studio recordings and live performances.
