Model History

The Rickenbacker 360 debuted in 1958 as part of Rickenbacker’s Capri series, showcasing Roger Rossmeisl’s innovative design. Known for its “Cresting Wave” body shape, rounded edges, and semi-hollow construction, it revolutionized electric guitars. The 12-string version, the 360/12, launched in 1963 and quickly became legendary, cementing its place in music history thanks to George Harrison of The Beatles, who used it on tracks like “A Hard Day’s Night” and “If I Needed Someone.” Other notable users include Tom Petty, Roger McGuinn of The Byrds, and Mike Campbell. The 360/12’s unique sound—bright, rich, and harmonically complex—continues to inspire musicians across genres.
