Gibson SG Standard Cream 2012 USED

The Gibson SG has been one of Gibson’s core solidbody models since the early 1960s, known for its thin mahogany body, bevelled double-cutaway shape and easy upper-fret access. By 2012, the SG Standard still followed the later full-face pickguard layout associated with many post-1966 SGs, but with modern Gibson USA production details and the 490R/498T humbucker pairing.

This 2012 Gibson SG Standard Limited is finished in Cream, one of the less common finishes from this period. The colour gives the guitar a very different look from the usual Heritage Cherry and black SG Standards, even more so on this particular guitar, which has been tastefully upgraded with a replacement cream pearloid full-face pickguard, rear electronics cover, and matching white/gold reflector knobs. These really give the guitar a unique look and suit it well.

The basic SG formula remains straightforward and effective: solid mahogany body, set mahogany neck, bound fingerboard with trapezoid inlays, dual humbuckers, Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece. It is a light and comfortable guitar with the familiar SG balance of simple construction, direct controls and strong upper-fret access.

This example weighs 2900g and includes the original black Gibson USA case with white interior, plus the original paperwork. It has standard playwear on the body, minor dings, minor stand-related nitro burn on the back by the heel, and a small area of finish flaking on the treble side between the 4th and 5th frets. This is not felt when playing and is not an issue.

This is a really cool recent SG. Light, resonant, plays great, looks a bit different, and already road-tested and ready to rock some more.
