Ovation S778 Elite Special BRUGT

Ovation built its name on acoustic-electric guitars that approached the flat-top format differently from most other makers. The roundback composite body, cutaway design, and offset multi-soundhole layout gave the brand a very distinct look and made these guitars especially popular with players who needed a reliably amplifiable stage instrument. The Elite series is one of Ovation’s best-known lines, and the S778 Elite Special is a straightforward late-1990s USA-made example with the expected combination of solid spruce top, multi-soundhole construction, onboard electronics, and easy upper-fret access.

This example is a used player’s guitar with clear cosmetic wear throughout. There is lots of playwear and dings overall, a repaired crack in the top, and a larger ding in the top behind the bridge. Nothing structural otherwise. There are also dings on the back of the neck, but they are not felt when playing. Frets are 95% and almost like new, so it still has plenty of life left in it.

It is fitted with the Ovation OP24+ preamp, a practical onboard system with volume and 3-band EQ, along with the usual shaping controls that made these models useful plugged in. Includes original case, very worn with cracked plastic outer but works. Includes original manual. Weight is 2000g.
