Gibson L-00 Special

First introduced in 1932, the L-00 has become Gibson’s best-known and most popular small-bodied acoustic guitar. The L-00 Special is handcrafted by Gibson’s acoustic guitar makers in Bozeman, Montana, and offers a USA-made Gibson acoustic at a more accessible price.

The body is made with solid mahogany back and sides and a solid Sitka spruce top with traditional scalloped X-bracing. Its compact L-00 body shape and narrow waist produce a focused, nuanced sound with a tighter and leaner bass response that works particularly well for fingerstyle and blues, while remaining versatile enough for many other styles.

The utile neck is joined to the body with Gibson’s compound dovetail joint using hot hide glue. It has a SlimTaper profile and a rosewood fingerboard with a 12″ radius, mother-of-pearl dot inlays and 19 standard frets. Other features include a rectangular rosewood bridge, TUSQ nut and saddle, Grover Mini Rotomatic tuners and a satin nitrocellulose lacquer finish.

An L.R. Baggs Element Bronze active under-saddle pickup with soundhole-mounted volume control makes the L-00 Special ready for amplified use. A premium soft shell case is included.
