Bourgeois Touchstone Series Slope Dread Standard/TS

The Bourgeois Touchstone The Standard brings the classic slope-shouldered dreadnought design into the Touchstone Series. Inspired by traditional American acoustic guitars, the Slope Dreadnought combines a short 25″ scale with the full body and rounded shoulders associated with this style.

The guitar features an Aged Tone torrefied Sitka spruce top with solid mahogany back and sides. Bourgeois prepares and voices the tops using its tap-tuning process before the instruments are completed as part of the company’s collaboration with Eastman. The result combines traditional Bourgeois design and voicing principles with the more accessible Touchstone production format.

The Standard uses a 14-fret mahogany neck, short 25″ scale and a 1 23/32″ nut width. Traditional appointments include ivoroid body binding, vintage herringbone purfling, single-ring ivoroid rosette and ivoroid dot fretboard inlays. The rectangular Ziricote bridge is combined with ivoroid bridge pins, while Schaller nickel tuners with oval ivoroid buttons complete the vintage-style specification.

The Slope Dreadnought body is slightly wider and deeper than a conventional square-shouldered dreadnought, while the shorter scale contributes to lower string tension and a different response under the fingers.
