G&L Custom Creations Korina Collection ASAT Deluxe 2012

This 2012 G&L ASAT Deluxe II comes from the limited Korina Collection produced through G&L’s Custom Creations Department. The department was established in 1998 as a way for G&L to develop small runs of instruments with specifications outside the normal production range. Importantly, G&L did not regard Custom Creations as a conventional customer-order custom shop. The instruments were conceived internally as Limited Editions or Special Builds and were made by the same production staff at the Fullerton, California factory.

The Korina Collection was announced in 2011 and consisted of four models: the ASAT Bass, ASAT Classic Bluesboy, ASAT Deluxe II and ASAT Junior II, with production limited to 100 examples of each. The common specification included two-piece Korina bodies, Pau Ferro fingerboards and quartersawn maple necks.

The ASAT Deluxe II takes the familiar bolt-on, 25.5-inch-scale ASAT format in a slightly different direction. It was originally supplied with Seymour Duncan pickups, but these have been changed to Suhr SSV and SSV+ units. A push/pull tone control provides coil tapping, giving the guitar a broader range of sounds than its straightforward two-humbucker layout might suggest.

This example has the original Aged Natural Gloss finish over its Korina body, paired with a gloss light-tint quartersawn maple neck and Pau Ferro fingerboard. It’s in great condition with only minor standard playwear. Frets are like new. The factory specification sheet is included along with the remaining original paperwork. The original Deluxe Black Tolex case is also included and is in nearly new condition. Weight is 3900g.
