Fender Jazz Bass Fiesta Red 1966

Introduced in 1960 as Fender’s deluxe offset bass, the Jazz Bass offered a slimmer neck, contoured body and a more flexible two-pickup layout than the earlier Precision Bass. By 1966, the model was firmly established as one of Fender’s key designs, prized for its fast feel, strong note definition and the wide range available from the separate volume controls and master tone.

This 1966 Fender Jazz Bass is finished in original Fiesta Red, one of the best-known and most sought-after Fender custom colours of the 1960s. Originally taken from Fender’s custom colour chart, Fiesta Red has long been associated with top-tier custom colour instruments because it stands out immediately without losing the classic Fender look. On a mid-1960s Jazz Bass, it is an especially attractive combination with the matching headstock and white guard.

The bass is refretted, but otherwise all original, including all electronics. Neck date is July 66. The original Fiesta Red finish has normal dings, edge wear and general signs of use, but is in great overall condition. It also comes with its original Swedish-made export case, worn but fully functional, and includes the original metal pickup covers. Weight is 4100g.
