Guild S60-D White 1978

DKK 11995

The Guild S-60 D was part of Guild’s late-1970s solidbody range, built in the USA and aimed at players who wanted a more direct, stripped-down electric than the larger S-100 and S-300 models. The S-series used Guild’s offset double-cut body shape, set-neck construction and 24-fret neck, giving the guitars a distinctive feel among American solidbodies of the period. The “D” version of the S-60 originally came with two DiMarzio single-coils rather than the single humbucker used on the standard S-60.

This particular 1978 example has lived life in the fast lane, and has had a lot of changes that make it less original, but more cool. It has been refretted and plays really well, with a medium chunky, narrow neck and a beautiful rosewood fingerboard. The pickups are later replacement DiMarzios, and the electronics have been replaced. The pickguard and knobs are not original, and the output jack has been moved from the pickguard to the side of the body.

Finally, the guitar has an aftermarket trem system, which is of unknown origin but looks cool and works great. No case or bag is included.

The S-60 D is one of Guild’s more unusual late-1970s solidbody models that already looks great, this hot rodded example just turns the cool factor up to 11. A supercool US made 70s rock ‘n roll machine that plays great and is ready to slay.
