PRS SE Angelus A40E Tobacco Sunburst

The PRS SE A40E is part of the SE acoustic range and uses the company’s Angelus Cutaway body shape, a comfortable acoustic-electric design with easy upper-fret access and a slightly more modern outline than a traditional full-depth dreadnought. It is built around a solid Sitka spruce top and ovangkol back and sides, giving it a clear, balanced acoustic voice with enough body for strumming and enough definition for fingerstyle playing.

PRS uses its Hybrid “X”/Classical bracing pattern on the SE A40E, combining an X brace behind the bridge with classical-style fan bracing across the lower part of the top. The aim is to give the top room to move while keeping the structure stable, resulting in good projection, sustain and dynamic response. The Angelus body shape also helps keep the guitar comfortable whether played seated, standing or plugged in.

The neck is mahogany with PRS’ Wide Fat profile, paired with an ebony fingerboard, 20 frets and PRS bird inlays. The 643 mm scale length, 42.9 mm nut width and 300 mm fingerboard radius give it a familiar steel-string feel with a little extra substance in the neck. Other details include tiger acrylic purfling, cream binding, an ebony bridge, bone nut and bone saddle.

For amplified use, the SE A40E is fitted with a PRS-Voiced Fishman Sonitone system. It uses an undersaddle pickup and soundhole-mounted volume and tone controls, keeping the look clean while still making the guitar ready for stage or rehearsal use. It comes with a hardshell case.
